About Dr. Penner

penner

Raised on a largely self sufficient Mennonite farm in Northern California, Dr. Penner is not a newcomer to the whole foods movement.

Dr. Penner graduated from Western States University in Portland, Oregon in 1985 with her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. After working in a multi-disciplinary clinic in San Diego for three years, she returned to her home town of Chico, California and opened her private practice in 1988.

While her practice was predominantly orthopedically based for 20 years, Dr. Penner always maintained a nutritional “thread” and eventually came to the conclusion that without special emphasis on the internal, bio-chemical workings of the body, treatment of musculo-skeletal conditions cannot be optimized and in many cases amounts to a waste of time and money.

Consequently, she committed herself to mastering and teaching functional physiology, herbology, detoxification protocols, and ketogenic adaptation programs. This health care approach is now known as Whole Food Medicine.

Additionally, Dr. Penner owns and operates a small, organic  farm providing food for herself and her community.

Mission & Philosophy

To educate people towards a better understanding of how food effects and drives their health. To encourage people to live vibrantly healthy lives by eating whole, uncompromised foods  in appropriate macro-nutrient ratios, and using whole food compounds as medicines.

The body will usually present many indicators of what is wrong. Signs and symptoms are pieces of the puzzle and generally should not be treated individually.

5 primary questions the Whole Food Medicine practitioner must answer:

  1. Is there a toxic situation (heavy metal, chemical poisoning, retained waste) that is poisoning the body?
  2. Is there a nutritional deficiency that is preventing the body from functioning normally?
  3. Is there organ system depletion/damage that must be repaired for normal function to resume?
  4. Is there an energetic blockage preventing normal neurological flow?
  5. Is there microbial imbalance or infection that is challenging immune function?

While change isn’t always easy, our patients reap life-changing rewards. While some people have a long way to go when they arrive at our door, others just need a little correction and a boost!

Our goal is to design a program that works for your needs and then provide you with education, guidance, and encouragement until your health goals are reached.

People tell us  “Thank-you for giving me my life back!” Honestly, we live to hear those words!
